On Tuesday,  September 11, 2001, a set of coordinated attacks were carried out in
the United States.
According to the official 9/11 Commission Report, nineteen men affiliated with
al-Qaeda, a network of militant Islamist terrorist organizations, hijacked four
American airliners. Two were crashed into the World Trade Center in Manhattan,
New York City — one into each of the two tallest towers, about 17 minutes apart —
shortly after which both towers collapsed. The third aircraft crashed into the U.S.
Department of Defense headquarters, the Pentagon, in Arlington County, Virginia.
The fourth plane crashed into a rural field in Somerset County, Pennsylvania near
Shanksville following passenger resistance.

The death toll included 33 crew members, 214 passengers, 19 hijackers in the
aircraft, 125 in the Pentagon, and over 2,000 dead and missing in New York.

Some things die at sunset; a day,  a romance,  a life.  Something that woke  in the morning with a vibrant
promise of hopeful expectation has ended.  What was it I felt the need to
                                                           achieve, and couldn't?

Where did the hours, the days, the years go that I needed to accomplish.  The feats I once felt
                                                  so important.

Time rushes past me,  laughing as he goes,
mocking, sneering for the irretrievable seconds snatched from me when I was caught unaware
He knows I cannot get them back or make amends for those millions I must have misused

He knows there is only "next time"
to try and make better use of the minutes that I had.

He will be there then as well;
standing guard, watching, waiting, grabbing at every millisecond that goes astray
and reminding, reminding, reminding...
Time belongs to no man.
